Prior to founding VerSan Consulting, LLC, Deacon ran one of the largest health plans in the country for the State of New Jersey, covering over 820k lives consisting of public sector employees, teachers and uniformed professionals. Deacon began her time in the public sector first as a Deputy Attorney General, and then Special Counsel to the Governor where Deacon oversaw Department of Banking and Insurance, Economic Development Authority and Treasury, among other agencies. Deacon has exercised her legal and political dexterity in a variety of capacities, from complex transactional work and appellate litigation, to working with tens of public sector labor leaders while leading the State and School employee health plans for NJ.

Deacon has a deep knowledge of the role healthcare data plays in the ecosystem and believes in its power to change the healthcare landscape for the better, when coupled with the right leadership and strategy in healthcare. Deacon has been credited with helping save the State of New Jersey hundreds of millions of dollars during her tenure with the health plan. From creative procurement methodologies to forward thinking contractual arrangements and guarantees to population health initiatives, Deacon has been described as a public sector entrepreneur that was always driven to improve the quality and affordability of healthcare for members and employers.

With more than 35 years in the health care sector, Jeff Hogan is passionate about bringing value to health care. His extensive experience as an expert witness on health care related litigation, a consultant to payers and large provider groups for product development and launch, and as a resource to employers desirous of implementing strategies to manage their health spend. Jeff is focused on health care payment reform, health policy, care coordination, value based healthcare, health care quality and precision medicine.

Jeff regularly appears on national forums focused on moving to value-based healthcare and is actively working to promote health care related transparency measures in the market. He is a current board member for the Connecticut Business Group on Health and serves as the group’s liaison to the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser’s Coalition. He is also is one of the Coordinators of Connecticut’s Moving to Value Alliance. Jeff also serves on the Advisor’s Panel for the Validation Institute and is the Regional Leader for the Leapfrog Group.

AJ is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in pharmacy benefits, finance, and software development. As the CEO of Capital Rx, his mission is to create the first efficient market for prescription prices and provide employer groups with the highest standard of patient care. To achieve this goal, AJ has spent his career studying the pharmaceutical supply chain and producing engineering solutions that have continually redefined the pharmacy benefit industry.

Prior to Capital Rx, AJ was a co-founder of Truveris, where he served for eight years as CEO, CIO, and Board Member, leading the company to record growth (Deloitte FAST 500 and Crain’s Fast50). Before Truveris, AJ co-founded SMS Partners, a joint venture with Realogy (RLGY), and in 2010 exited the partnership with a buyout. In his first venture, AJ started Victrix, a pharmaceutical supply chain consultancy, and successfully sold the company to Chrysalis Solutions in 2007.

AJ is a graduate of Manhattanville College where he studied finance, while playing varsity soccer and rugby.

Pramod John is the team leader of VIVIO, a Public Benefit Corporation that is using data and analytics to reinvent the therapeutic use and supply chain for specialty drugs. VIVIO’s solution is challenging the current framework of efficacy and extending it to actual effectiveness in the real world. VIVIO’s model offers significant drug acquisition savings and simplicity for the patient by integrating the supply chain into a unified process. VIVIO has grown rapidly, and customers include the F500 in various industries such as distribution, manufacturing, high-tech, mining, healthcare services, and education.

Before VIVIO, Pramod was the founder of Oration (owned by Change Healthcare), which focused on giving back consumers control over their drug purchasing by capturing the prescription in the physician’s office and providing real-time pricing options and automatic routing capabilities. Pramod was also VP of Strategy and Innovation at McKesson, the world’s largest healthcare company. At McKesson, Pramod helped develop solutions that leveraged advanced technologies and business process improvements to optimize healthcare delivery systems, infrastructure, and supply chains.

Earlier, Pramod founded and served as CEO of PacketMotion, a venture-funded startup in the enterprise network information and policy management industry. VMWare later acquired the company. Pramod also founded netExaminer.com, a managed vulnerability assessment company acquired by SonicWALL.

Pramod earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He serves on the board of Wycliffe USA and the advisory board of Folia Water and as a mentor at StartX.

Cora Opsahl is the Director of the 32BJ Health Fund, a self-funded plan that provides affordable, comprehensive, and innovative health coverage to 200,000 union members and their families. During her time at the Health Fund, Cora has led the implementation of multiple benefit changes: removing NewYork Presbyterian hospital system and physicians from the network, transitioning to a new pharmacy vendor and pharmacy group purchasing coalition, and implementing an expanded Centers of Excellence program administered by Mount Sinai Hospital System. These efforts are projected to save over $35 million in 2022. Prior to joining the 32BJ Health Fund, Cora spent 12 years with Express Scripts, a Pharmacy Benefit Manager. During her time there she held a variety of roles, including Medicare Part D, strategy and acquisitions, operations, and account management. Cora holds an MBA from Saint Louis University.

Marcia enjoys a successful career in State & National Association leadership, nursing education & workforce development, healthcare fundraising, and statewide coalition building.

She is currently Executive Director for the Connecticut Center for Nursing Workforce (CCNW) and the Connecticut League for Nursing (CLN), as well as, the owner of Marcia Proto Consulting, LLC.

Her life’s work has involved connecting people through education and skills training toward fulfilling career paths, particularly in the nursing field. In addition to her roles with the CCNW and CLN, she has held management positions at The Connecticut Hospital Association, Junior Achievement of South-East CT, Flath & Associates Consulting, and The National League for Nursing (NLN).

Marcia has spent the past 20 years ensuring that the nursing workforce will meet the nation’s growing healthcare needs by contributing to and engaging in state and national task force activities such as the Center to Champion Nursing in America, a national initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in collaboration with AARP.

She has also led volunteer initiatives for: the CT Nursing Collaborative; The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a member of the Hospital Association Educators Workgroup; Hartford Healthcare System Quality Committee, and MidState Medical Center, as Vice President of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Quality and Credentialing Committee.

Marcia has garnered honors and awards including:

• Individual Constituent League Excellence in Leadership Award from the NLN;
• The Award for Organizational Excellence in Innovation from NLN;
• Professional of the Year and Recipient of the Diversity Award from The Workplace, Inc.’s Health CareeRx Academy, Bridgeport, CT;
• 2018 Veritas Alumni Award by the New Haven Club of Providence College;
• Sigma Theta Tau International Friend of Nursing Award from Quinnipiac University; and
• A Health Leadership Fellow for the Connecticut Health Foundation.

Marcia lives in Wallingford, CT with her husband of 35 years; and has two adult sons, Anthony and Nathaniel, who live and work in Massachusetts.

Lisa Rebeschi, PhD is the Associate Dean in the School of Nursing at Quinnipiac University. Prior to this, she was the Chairperson and Chief Nurse Administrator at Southern Connecticut State University, leading programs at the baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral level. Dr. Rebeschi is credentialed by the National League for Nursing as a Certified Nurse Educator. She serves as an accreditation site visitor for the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education. Her areas of research and scholarship include curriculum development and evaluation, patient safety competency, and the use and impact of educational technologies. She currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut League for Nursing.

Amanda (Mandy) Richards, MSN, RN, APRN- ACNS-BC, NEA-BC is Hartford HealthCare’s first Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). She joined the organization in January 2021.

Richards is a high-performing nursing leader who has been repeatedly recognized for leveraging clinical and business skills to consistently deliver results. Her background includes 15 years of management experience over multiple inpatient and outpatient clinical areas, including six years’ experience as a CNO.

Prior to Hartford HealthCare, Richards spent 15 years at Allina Health, a not-for-profit system with 12 hospitals, more than 90 clinics and 15 pharmacy sites in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Most recently, she served as the Allina system’s system CNO, where she was accountable for the performance of more than 8,000 Registered Nurses and allied health professionals. Previously, she served at Allina’s flagship, Abbott Northwestern, a 627-bed teaching and specialty hospital in Minneapolis. At Abbott Northwestern, she had also served as Vice President of Clinical Operations, after four years as Vice President of Patient Care at United Hospital in St. Paul.
Richards also has had experience as a clinical leader for robust service lines, including neuroscience and spine, intensive and critical care, and respiratory care.

She received her training in Australia, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Deakin University in Melbourne, and her Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of Technology in Sydney. She holds certifications and licenses as a Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, and board- certifications as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Neuroscience Registered Nurse and as an Advanced Nurse Executive.

Dr. Rueter is the Chief Medical Officer at The Jackson Laboratory and the Medical Director for the MCGI and the Associate Director for Translational Initiatives at the JAX Cancer Center. He works with a number of JAX clinical genomics and education experts as well as several national leaders on advancing the field of Precision Medicine with the goal of individualizing cancer treatments for individual patients and improving their outcomes.

Previously, Dr. Rueter was a hematologist/oncologist at EMMC Cancer Care and the medical director for EMMC Biobank and translational research in Brewer, Maine. After graduating from medical school in Berlin, Germany, Rueter completed his residency in internal medicine at Tulane University and fellowship training in hematology/oncology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Steve Schutzer graduated with Honors from Union College and the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Following a Surgical Internship at the University of Rochester he served as Lieutenant in the Medical Corps of the United States Navy. After his tour of duty, Dr. Schutzer did his General Surgical training at the University of Rochester and then completed his Orthopedic Residency at the University of Connecticut. He was then a Fellow in Adult Hip and Reconstructive Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital after which he entered private practice in Hartford, Connecticut.
Dr. Schutzer is a Founding Member the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute, a Center Of Excellence at Saint Francis, where he served as Medical Director between 2007 – 2021. He is currently the Physician Executive for the Orthopedic Service Line at Trinity Health Of New England, and Chair of the Department of Orthopedics at Saint Francis. He is on the staff of Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut and a member of Advanced Orthopedics New England.
In 2014, Dr. Schutzer and two colleagues, Ms. Steph Kelly and Ms. Maureen Geary launched a consulting company, Novel Healthcare Solutions, whose mission is to establish effective and trusting business relationships between Physicians and Hospital partners – and then create orthopedic Centers Of Excellence.
Dr. Schutzer is also Co-Founder of Upswing Health, a health technology start-up whose charge is to help 10 million lives alleviate suffering from MSK pain by the end of 2023.

Sheriff specialises in expanding access to healthcare through designing and scaling up innovative solutions & service delivery models leveraging technology. He has extensive experience of working with various Healthcare Systems & partners around the world.

Sheriff joined Merck, Sharpe & Dohme (MSD) in 2020, where he currently leads the Global Affordability & Sustainable Access Solutions team. The team’s mission is to enable solutions & collaborate with ecosystem partners to deliver sustainable access to medicines & vaccines for people around the world.

Sheriff is particularly driven to explore partnering arrangements that solve major societal challenges and create long term value. His work extends from novel approaches to address inefficiencies & inequity in access to healthcare, to helping create innovative financing & coverage models that expands access to healthcare for healthcare systems & individuals in a sustainable way.

Prior to joining MSD, Sheriff worked at GE Healthcare where he led Solution Strategy in the Strategic partnerships team operating across Europe, Middle East & Africa. Prior to this, he spent many years in Management Consulting rising to become a Partner, specialising in Business Design & Implementation in Healthcare. Outside of work, Sheriff enjoys spending time with his young family.

Professor Elizabeth Teisberg, Ph.D., holds a Distinguished University Chair at UT Austin, and is Executive Director of the Value Institute for Health and Care, a collaboration between the Dell Medical School and the McCombs School of Business. She is the co-creator of the concept of value-based health care delivery as the co-author, with Michael E. Porter, of Redefining Health Care: Creating Value-Based Competition on Results.

Professor Teisberg, an expert in the implementation of high-value health care and advises organizations internationally. She is a senior associate at Harvard’s Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness, and serves on the advisory boards of World Economic Forum’s Global Coallition on Value in Health Care, and the International Consortium for Outcome Measurement.

The Value Institute for Health and Care offers a platform for the international community of leaders transforming health care. The Institute conducts research on implementing strategy, culture, measurement and payment to enable high-value health care. The Value Institute for Health and Care also offers a Master of Science in Health Care Transformation degree, as well as custom executive education focused on the “how-to” of leading and implementing high-value health care.

Professor Teisberg earned her Ph.D. in engineering at Stanford University. She has served on the faculties of Dartmouth’s School of Medicine, University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, and Harvard Business School.

Lisa. M. Trumble joined SoNE HEALTH in January 2020 as the President and Chief Executive Officer. Her career is showcased by successes in generating strong clinical and financial operating results for health care organizations. She has more than 25 years of experience at integrated delivery systems and physician organizations.

Prior to joining SoNE HEALTH, Ms. Trumble served as the Senior Vice President of Accountable Care at Cambridge Health Alliance. The scope of her responsibility included system-wide duties for accountable care and population health management, incorporating payor contracting, financial medical economics, regulatory compliance, administrative and clinical programming, and all care and medical management functions at CHA. Under her leadership, the organization realized significant improvements in clinical and financial outcomes resulting in significant cost of care savings.

Ms. Trumble joined CHA from Berkshire Health System, where she served as Vice President of Physician Services for Berkshire Health Systems and the Executive Director of the Berkshire Health Systems Physicians Organization. She was instrumental in transforming physician operations, restructuring provider employment agreements and provider compensation plans, and enhancing patient satisfaction for the health system. Prior to Berkshire Health Systems, she served as the Vice President of Finance and Operations at the Cambridge Health Alliance Physician Organization where she achieved similar outcomes.

Previously, Ms. Trumble was Administrative Director for Anesthesia and Surgery services lines at North Shore Medical Center and Chief Financial Officer of North Shore’s Physicians Organization, a subsidiary of North Shore Medical Center. During her early career, she held several positions in operations and finance at Commonwealth Health Management Service and Independent Physicians Association and their sister corporation Berkshire Physicians & Surgeons, P.C.

Ms. Trumble holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from North Adams State College and a Master of Science in Business Administration and Healthcare Finance from Western New England University.

Mike is currently on assignment as an Associate Vice President within Merck’s Policy and Government Relations organization, located in Washington, DC. Mike is a liaison to the US Market organization, working on key policy and legislative efforts that affect assigned issues of importance, including those that have an impact on product reimbursement and the legal/regulatory environment for Merck in the U.S.

Mike’s career in pharmaceuticals began at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where for 17 years he held roles of increasing scope and responsibility across sales, product training, sales management, brand management, and brand payer marketing within multiple primary care and specialty therapeutic areas. In 2013, Mike transitioned to GlaxoSmithKline to develop and execute the payer strategy for a first-in class, combination treatment for metastatic Melanoma (Tafinlar and Mekinist).

In 2015, Mike joined Merck as the Director, U.S. Payer Marketing for Keytruda, and was most recently promoted to Associate Vice President, U.S. Oncology Organized Customer Access and Reimbursement (OCAR), where he led the managed markets strategy, access, and reimbursement for the Merck U.S. Oncology portfolio.

Terry is a Partner at Regal Healthcare Capital Partners. Prior to Regal, Terry was the VP of Operations at CHE Senior Psychological Services, a leading, private-equity backed provider of mental health services to skilled nursing, assisted living, adult day care, and rehab centers. Prior to CHE, Terry worked in management consulting at Bain & Co., and in private equity investing at Bain Capital. Terry received a B.S. in Finance and Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
